Some months ago my doc recommended to me to do the vaccine. It was after some weeks that I have had a chickenpox. I did not think that I’ll have some diseases and that my situation will get worse. Just after some days after the injection I started to have a strange allergic reaction and all my skin became red. One part of my arm become red and hot, the size was very big. I noticed that day by day it started to become worse and the area started to become bigger and bigger. The pain was insupportable. I started to feel like I’m becoming a guinea pig, red and ugly. Some days after the situation started to calm down I read some of reviews in internet and I found out that this vaccine is a new thing in the medicine market and it was in the testing period. I was very worried and angry at the same time. Worried because I couldn’t imagine what I was injected with and angry because my doctor recommended me to take it.

The first time when I received the vaccine was 5 months and few days ago. I am going to try to let you know everything I got from the vaccine with this product “Zostavax” hoping that it would help somebody. So: at the area where I had the injection I was having a three inch x per 1 and 1/2 inch raised welt which disappeared only after approximately 4 days or so. Also, I was experiencing some sort of side effects that includes herpes zoster, very bad, extremely bad fatigue and also joint aching. Anyway, all they went away after a couple of weeks or so. Well, 4 months later of receiving this vaccine I have started to have some itching sensation that would start on any random part of my body. However, I have noticed that it mostly start appearing on my abdomen, back, buttocks or even on my head. I have also noticed that it begins in one area but later it is spreading. This thing is happening every single night without exceptions. The itching can become very bad so I have to use Benadryl in order to have some relief and to be able to fall asleep. anyway, on the other hand I have received very good help. Moreover, my doctor is still not sure but he said that there’s a possibility of having this itchiness from the herpes zoster vaccine. Well, as a conclusion: in my opinion there’s not enough info provided for possible side effects on long term. Now, the only thing I can do (despite the fact that I’ve tried to do a lot of things to get rid of it) is to hope that it would help. I also hope that this info would be helpful for somebody else.

I’m a 56 years old woman who took Zostavax. Sincerely, I’ve forgot the last time I’ve been feeling so bad. The next day after I’ve received the injection I had and extreme feeling of weakness, I got flu like symptoms and my gut began to ache exactly like the flu. In the 3rd day after the injection I started to have big knee joints pains. The pains were so bad that I’ve took 600 mg of ibuprofen, I’ve put there ice and then a knee brace in order to lower the pains. Today it’s the 4th day after the injection and my guts still ache and I’m feeling very tired and weak. I don’t recommend this drug to anybody! I’ve talked to a patient who also took this drug and he told me that he has exactly the same symptoms as I did and they went away in more than 10 days. Taking this drug means that you are taking more problems. The point is that having some extra problem is free but having this drug you need to pay for it...
