Accute pain when using phones

About a year ago first time I felt pain during a cell phone conversation. I though it won't cause any troubles, but the pain was growing continuously until I could not answer any kind of phones, I mean cell phone or land lines. I didn't go to a doctor since I said it's not a big problem.  Now I can't talk without using headset or with the use of loudspeaker option, unless I get a searing headache and earache. The sharp pain goes from my ear to my brain. Does anybody know what this problem is about? And how can I treat it? Thanks Foot in Mouth

I've never heard of this kind of problem before. Make sure you don't press it to much, or I don't know, you don't have any kind of acoustic problem but this? Maybe you have/ had some ear problems. I understand that you feel the same when using both ears? Or you should just simply try to switch to a new phone? Your old one can emit radiation and you could be sensible at it. Anyway visit a doctor, it is the safest way, I think

the same!! i have the exact same thing and i don't understand what causes it?!?! im a healthy person, never had major health problems or something like that, its pissing me off!! really! its not fair! why i can't use phones? as you landlines nor mobile phones. the pain is just getting bigger and bigger if i continue talking directly with the phone, the loud speaker is the only option if i dont have headset, but if im in public places i cant talk!!! i have visited a doctor but she doesnt know what this is. she just looked at it and asked me if i had some acoustic troubles but i didnt and thats it. maybe someone have a certain knowledge about it and can help us? please??

thanks everyone for your post. i thought that nobody have a similar problem as i never heard about pain when using cell phones before experiencing this by myself. i understand everyone perfectly, it started several years ago with the cell phone, for a reason i can't define i didn't paid attention to it, now i have it even when i use all kind of phones so i'm forced to have a good headset with me every time and everywhere, unless i use the loudspeaker option. i've visited a doctor who made a mri test in order to find out what causes the pain and i found out that i have an acoustic neuroma, it's a tumor on the auditory never which i assume that this is causing the problem even though the doctor said that this has nothing to do with the pain when i use phones. maybe you guys should check for this acoustic neuroma too? if we all have it then it's going to be all clear. my doctor doesn't know what should i do to treat it, then who should know? i will wait for your reposts people. maybe someone finds out something new? thanks in advance

I came across your post accidentally and I am surprised how many people have this. My boyfriend is suffering from this too, in public places he's unable to talk with me if he forgot his headset, he always have to have it near him unless he also has to use loud speaker. He also gets earache and headache if he tries to talk directly thru the phone. It's really strange, he had this problem only with cell phones and lately he also can't talk either on landlines. He complained about it saying that he gets sharp pain and that he is tired of having this. Now he seems to get used to this but who is not willing to be treated from this? Anyone has any ideas what this could be? He also visited few doctor in the past but no one could help him and he gave up saying that doctors are useless, well, I understand him. If someone knows a certain answer and way to treat it, I guess everyone who posted here is going to be really thankful, including myself. I've always dreamt that at his birthday I will give him some medications that will help. Please make a girl's dream come true :)

I know exactly what you're talking about! I'm now suffering from the exact same issue and unfortunately I cannot help you with any options of treatment. However I came here with a diagnose and maybe someone will find it useful. Well I got that ear pain from cell phone use few years ago but slowly slowly my problem was growing and I was ignorant about that so now I cannot use any kind of phones. Each time I need to talk to someone I either use skype or put the phone on loud speaker. When it first occurred the pain wouldn't start unless I spoke for more than about 10 minutes in row then my time went down to 5 minutes then it started just within a minute until it is so bad that I cannot talk now few seconds without pains. It doesn't matter the phone type: landlines or regular phones, they all are having the same effect on my ear.

I don't know if this problem is somehow connected to what I was suffering a year ago but there is a possibility: a year ago I was having big troubles with sleeping and I was very anxious 24/7. Now these problems vanished but the ear ache I get is still there. Of course I went to several doctor asking them about this and being sure (first few weeks of searching) that I will get my answer about how to treat it very soon, it seems that it was very wrong. However all they told me that everything is fine with me and they cannot find anything physical wrong with me and they all blamed it on my anxiety. Knowing that this is not the reason of my problem I have done a ton of research and I diagnosed myself with electromagnetic sensitivity. Not being a doctor I cannot say that for sure but it's the only logical diagnose. Basically this means radiation sickness. I started to have it because my body was overloaded with radiation because I was exposed too much on it. I am sick to any electro magnetic fields and I have to avoid using any kind of electrical appliances. I would recommend anyone who is suffering from this problem to turn off all home wi fi networks and cordless phones and to avoid as you can electromagnetic objects. Don't sleep near your telephone, laptop and anything what is plugged in. These things won't make you able again to use phones but you won't make it all worse. And who knows? maybe in time you're going to regenerate yourself. Wish you good luck and take care of you. If you want you can search about electromagnetic sensitivity by yourself.
