In my opinion it’s not a simple question since as I know, Autism and Asperger’s are not hereditary themselves but there are conditions developing it. So it means that technically it is hereditary…
There are several triggers in developing this disease for some people and that is why I recommend you to follow some steps. Since you know almost for sure that developing some of these diseases is hereditary then I recommend for your child’s best to do whatever you need just to avoid those triggers. I don’t know for sure what are they and obviously I don’t know all of them but I’ve read that some known triggers for this condition are gluten, artificial sugars, casein, some certain vaccines, some certain chemicals that are found in our food and etc. It would be very good if you’re going to search the internet about this thing, about the disease, triggers and so on. Ask as many doctors about this thing as you can. Read as much as you can and inform yourself as much as you can about everything related to autism and Asperger’s disease. Your child will say thank you one day for doing it.
There are some things that you can really do to help your baby and try to find them and obviously to do them. I do understand that it’s not easy and that this is not the best what could happen but… anyway, you still don’t know for sure if your baby will be born with this disease or no so don’t lose your hope. Even if it’s so then it’s not the end of the world. I hope that everything will be just fine with you and with your baby.
By the way, I would recommend your husband (or simply the baby’s father) to search with you and to avoid triggers because as I know they not only trigger the condition but can aggravate the disease making it even worse as it was. I’m sure both of you can make thru it, you just need to be patient and to do whatever it takes to lower the chances of your baby to be born with this.
