blood thinners

I have had a heart attack, and my doctor prescribed Coumadin and I'm on treatment for 3 months.
How long I should follow this treatment and if it ends ever?
In case, there is someone who has any experience with blood thinners any information will be appreciated.

hi I think the duration of the treamtent depends on what are you treated for.
usually it ranges between 3-6 months.
however I heard that a treatment may last for the rest of your life.

I used warfarin for venous thromboembolism and the treatment lasted 3 months.
anyway to stop the treatment after this time needs doctor's approval. otherwise you are at higher risk to experience unwanted results.

I understand that this treatment is unpleasant. furthermore I'm not sure that my doctor will not prescribe this medicine for me again. only doctors may tell how long you will take this medicine.
