cementless total hip replacement help need

Hi all! I have had a cementless total hip replacement a little more than a year ago in march 2013 and I am still having pains. When I had my surgery my surgeon has ruled out damage of the hip replacement and suggested that I have soft tissue injuries. The pain isn’t so bad, I can group it in slight pain to moderate thigh pain and it occurred almost immediately after I had the surgery. There was a period when I had little to no pain and I was able to do some exercises but it started again about four months ago in February and it is getting worse and worse since then. By the way the pain seems to be followed when I am walking, cycling or if I stand for a little more period of time. Obviously I asked about this my physiotherapist and he suggested that I have IT band issues but in the end it seems that he was wrong because I had physiotherapy treatment (acupuncture, massage) and the pain is still there. It passed so much time since then and I still have the pain so I can’t wait longer. I thought that by this point I won’t have any pains, it seems that I was wrong too. I would like to know if there are other hip replacement patients out there who have had some situations like I do? Also I would really and really like to know if you have any suggestions for me what can I do to get rid of the pain. What options do you have for me?

Thank you for your support.

I'm so sorry but I can't answer none of your question but I'm here because I'm living with the same problem and I assume that with the same pain as you. I'm 60yrs old and I also had a total hip replacement approximately in the same time as you, in January 2013. I'm looking now in the past and if someone would tell me back then that I would have pains until nowadays I won't believe him. I want to say that before having the surgery I expected to be back to almost normal after a year and a half. What is strange that first few months, first 3 or 4 months I guess, I seemed to recover very fast but then suddenly out of nowhere I started to have thigh and knee pain. I have to admit that the pain isn't that bad but it's somehow different and it's really bothersome. It's like a burning pain in my mid thigh alike nerve pains. I haven't noticed anything in particular that makes me to feel this pain. It has absolutely no regularity.

I don't want to visit my doctor again because his methods are useless. Whenever I visit him complaining about my pain he just put me some injections and is doing some IT band stretching that never helped me. He keeps telling me that besides what he is doing I need to exercise to strenghten my core but I exercise quite often every week and still nothing works. I wonder if someone here knows what I need to do in order to escape from the pain. I hope that someone knows something that it is going to work. Thank you.

I thought that I am the only one who is experiencing these pains but after many months I have decided to give it a try and search the net maybe I will find something useful. As everyone here I had my total hip replacement some years ago when I was 35 years old and now I'm 41. So many years passed but I still have pains and I think that they will never go away! I have thigh pain almost all the time but expecially at night, every night. I don't even remember the last night when I wasn't suffering from these pains! It's a real torture for me! It is a burning, sharp pain located on the outside of my thigh, down my thigh to my knee and I'm so tired of it! I would like so much to have a painless night because I find it difficult to fall asleep each time I go to bed and many times this pain wakes me during the night! Though I don't see any answers about how to reduce the pain I want to say thank you for your postings because it's really comforting to hear similar stories to mine. Anyway, I will wait and maybe someone could help me with this because I need to have pain killers always near me lest I risk to end up in terrible pains. Also doctors seem useless, whenever I visit them and tell them what is all about they cannot help. Thank you for everything!

Also had this total hip replacement 2 months ago in the beginning of Octomber. Titanium and Chrome.... I'm a 40 years old female and seem to be in a good shape since I'm trying to be active, do exercises etc. I know 2 months doesn't seem to be that much but for me it was like an eternity and I still have some thigh pains which are not that bad but are very irritating and I still walk with a limp unassisted. I do all the exercises my physical therapist told me to do and I never missed a day. It seems that I'm getting better because I can put on my socks and shoes but I in the beginning I thought that by this time I'm going to be completely healed up! Now I see that I was expecting too much too soon. I just wanted to know if my pain and the limp are typical for everybody else at this period of time from the surgery or I'm alone with such a problem? I hope that I and everybody else who had this surgery are going to get well as soon as possible.
