colored dots

Hello,

My son is six years old and he is complaining of seeing strange things: colored spots anywhere. He said that it first appeared about 4 months ago and still see them until now. I don’t know what could cause it and how to treat it...

He is a healthy boy, without any known health issues, but sometimes when he asks me if I see some strange colored dots I get really scared for him. Of course, as any other normal child, sometimes he gets headaches or cold but nothing serious, I think this is something normal... I mentioned it just so everything to be clear.

We’ve visited a pediatrician but he didn’t give me any useful information that could help my son. I forbid him to watch TV or use computer but it doesn’t seem to help either... Someone ever heard something similar? Can you please help us? I’m scared and I don’t know what to do, but he’s only six…

My daughter is complaining about something similar to what have you described up there, the only difference is that she said that she sees colored clouds on objects (but I am sure is the same dots your son is talking about). She is 7 and has it for about 8 months but she told me about them just recently. She says that no pain occurs or something like that, there is nothing that really is bothering here, only sometimes she find it hard to draw because of the spots. She says that they appear usually when she's concentrated, when working on a drawing or something else. I don't really understand but she says that they come off and on periodically, she doesn't see them every day. She is generally a healthy child and very intelligent. She doesn't have any allergies or other health issues that I know (but I think as a mother I would know them all if they would be). Now I see that there are also other children with this strange visual disorder (at first I thought she doesn't know what she's talking about), but there is no one who can give us a valid diagnosis. I am concerned that I found out about this too late and now is hard doing something, or it isn't? If possible please help us with all you've got!

Hello, my 10 years son revealed that he sees the same colored sports or clouds almost every day, he is very creative and intelligent but these dots are interfering with his activities. He also can't draw normally because of the spots and he complain that he can't read because they get in the way of him being able to read. When he is concentrating on something they disappear behind these spots. Sincerely I don't know if he has this for year or they started to appear just recently because he told me about them only few months ago. I really would like to make him stop seeing them but I have no ideas how to do that. We have already visited numerous of specialists and ocular doctors but none of them seems to be able to help us. I know that every parent sees his child as being the best in the world, it is something normal, but my son is truly very intelligent, sincerely I'm shocked! He has very good drawings, he reads very much and write beautiful poems. I really don't want this problem to get in his way. I'm very aware of this and I would deeply appreciate every hint you have for my son.

Hey people, my daughter is also 6 years old and she complains about having the same issue: seeing colored dots all the time. I have been to few doctors with her and they made some test which came back normal. They said that her vision is normal and in general everything seems fine. Because no one could give me any answers I am now trying to search something on the net. I don't know what is causing this... She seems to be healthy, I mean that she doesn't have any known issues. No headaches and even with these colored dots she can read normally. To be honest I wasn't expecting that so many people are complaining about their children having a similar issue but I just hate it, I mean the fact that I don't know what is causing this and how to make them disappear. First time I thought that she might be just tired and exhausted, or maybe it's her imagination from watching disneys, now I know for sure that this isn't her imagination and she can see them. We also have been to a pediatrician and the doctor said he would call me if anything shows up. I really hope he will find something helpful. Or maybe someone here will provide us with some info? Good luck everyone and maybe we will find a cure asap.
