Hi people, can someone help me getting a clear answer? I've read and heard a lot of different opinion on this subject, but I would like to get an expert opinion. Do lungs fully heal after quitting smoking??
I'm 21 years old male and I want to quit smoking (today I smoked just 1 cigarette). My first cigarette was around the age of 17, but at only 18 years old I started smoking regularly. I used to visit night clubs where smoking is allowed so there was a period of time when I smoked more than a pack a day. I don't know how or why, about a year ago I reduced it - I smoked a pack in two days.
Last few weeks I noticed that I don't have the resistance I used to have at 18-19 years when running. Now I want to quit it definitely - more money and much healthier. Moreover I'm scared of lung cancer, the health of my future children and at least the health of those around me.
I would really like to know if my lungs will ever fully heal or I've damaged my lungs so bad that they never going to be fully healed? Any info is appreciated. Thanks
