fingers smell like garlic

There are some weeks when I experience a strange thing that I have never ever experienced in my life. I started to notice that my fingers smell like garlic and more precisely my finger tips smell like garlic. My mom and my father noticed this too and I can’t explain this phenomenon. I’m a very healthy person and I eat healthy and I frequently wash my hands. I didn’t use garlic these weeks but the odor still persists.

I have heard that usually this is a symptom of fibromyalgia and that usually 90 of those how have fibromyalgia experience this strange symptom, but I’m not sure that this is a right thing, maybe I don’t have this disease but I would like to know what other people think, is this possible or this is another thing. I hope that somebody can help me.

Actually this is not true. I mean that the information that you got is not the right one at 100%. In fact people that suffer of fibromyalgia they are more sensitive to odors and this doesn’t mean that if your finger tips smells like garlic this is because you are ill. Besides this you said that your parents noticed this too so you can be sure that this is because of something else. I have heard about a similar example and I have heard that this can be due to temporal lobe epilepsy.

If you want to know my position and what do I think then I can say that in my opinion this is because of some food or because of some medications that you usually use but you even don’t understand this. Or maybe something else that you usually take in your hands but you even don’t know that this provokes that odor. Make a better research or talk to a doctor about your medications and food so sooner or later you’re going to find it out what’s wrong.

I experience the same thing and at the beginning I was scared that I may be having the fibromyalgia. After this I decided to visit my doctor. After the visit I found out that I don’t have fibromyalgia and that everything its okay. My wife feels this odor too and we still try to find the answer to this question, hope that soon it will be clear.

I have had the same thing and when I noticed that this smells more than 3 weeks I started to be worried, after some exams my doctor explained that this is a fungal infection. I don’t really remember the name of this fungus but I understood that this is like a bacteria that make your fingers smell strange and in addition it can develop in some people a feeling of itch and discomfort. I experienced just the odor of garlic, exactly as you. Also my doc said that this could be manifested with other type of odors and sometime you don’t experience nothing because it’s on early stage and this fungus is not activated, in this case this passes by itself. My doctor said that this could be linked with different situations, also I heard the there are some creams that can help. I’m not so informed about the creams but I plan to find the right cream for me…
This fungus can be inheritable, because my wife have had it too after me and she experienced the same symptoms. Maybe this is not your situations but will be better to do some fungus exams and to find it out.
