Gallbladder removal

Hey everyone, I have a question for those who passed through this or an expert who knows such kind of things. I work as a manager and I can't miss too much since I have an important function in the company. I have gallbladder disease and it is going to be removed in few days. I talked to my doctor and I've read some stories about it and I CAN'T believe what they say - 3 days and I'm going to feel like old me. Can it be true because it seems too good to be so?

Is there anyone who knows REALLY how much it takes to be able to go back to work? and if is something I can do to make a faster recovery?

Best wishes

hey man i just saw your post and wondering how you feel now? or you didn't do it yet? anyway im going through this too so i can advise you from my own experience. :) i also heard people recovering very fast after gallbladder removal - a week or so, but in my case it is a little bit different (which i don't want you to be too). i had my gallbladder out 3 weeks ago and I feel much better now, but more than a week i had acute pain in my right shoulder. i still have some pulling in my stomach and still it's hard to sleep on my side (first 2 weeks was impossible) and moreover im getting tired very easily, im thinking that's because anesthetic stays in our system 6 weeks. also we have to be careful with diets 2 months after removal. i hope something here will help you and you will have a quick recovery :) be healthy ;)

Like Benjamin I also had my gallbladder remove 3 weeks ago and I already have a healing progress even though until now I have some pains in my stomach. I’m beginning to feel better and better but for more than a week after the removal I also had pain in my right shoulder (I guess we are in the same situation as Benjamin). I’ve visited my doctor and he said that it’s the gas he pumped in when he was doing the operation. He said that it can take up to approximately 2 months for a human to get fully recovered after gallbladder removal. Anyway I don’t have any pain in my shoulder now so two days ago I went for the first time at work after it. A bit of pain I still feel if I work a little too much so you and I should take it easy. I also found out that we should take care with our diet for some time and stay fat free. Hope I’ve helped you and hope for a quick recovering process.

I guess you all feel normal by this time and that is why you didn't write any updates. I really hope that it is so because I had my gallbladder out 5 days ago on 12th May and I feel awful! Reading your posts I see that I'm going to feel like this for a little more time. I have had terrible pains from the gas because it was stock on my back and my right shoulder, however nurses advised me that this could happen and said that the only way to make it go away faster is to walk. I forced my self to walk from the first night when I got back home with the help of my husband. I was walking with smallest steps in the house just to escape from the pain. I also know that we should stay fat free and to eat a lot of fruits and to drink, to drink and to drink, tea, water, juice, whatever. Two days after the operation I have had my first shower and we removed the bandages. Three days after I was able to walk and to go up an downstairs by myself, even though it was very hard for me, but I'm doing this to have a faster recovery. Now I'm on pain killers and I have always to take them, unless I still have pains. However I'm able to work now but not more than 3 hours because my belly wound is still a little bit sore and pulling and it's very hard to sit for more time. I hope that soon I'll be much better because I'm trying to do everything for a faster recovery. Be healthy and happy everyone :)

I'm very happy to read your posts guys because I'm in the same boat as you! Well I had my gallbladder removed exactly two weeks ago on 22th may. Even though two weeks already passed I'm not back to normal unfortunately. To be honest I thought that I'm going to be because my surgeon said that I'm going to be fine until this time. I felt a little better but not good enough because I went back to work 5 days ago but I can't work normally and get through the whole day. Besides this I find it hard to sleep... I have an internal pulling feeling, I don't know how to explain this but it is making me very hard to find a position to sleep. Because of this feeling I get little to no sleep at all for the last couple of days so now I'm like a walking dead with pads under my eyes. I'm very tired and I can't concentrate. Today I couldn't resist this non sleeping hell so I decided to visit another doctor who gave me a more realistic answer saying that it can take 2 months until I will get a full recovery. Even though his answer didn't make me any happier at least I know that this is something normal because until today I thought that something went wrong. Well, I hope this is the worst what could happen.

Hi people, I was looking upon the internet about this and I have seen your posts earlier but I have just had my gallbladder out and now I have decided to post how I am feeling and maybe we could all make a chat about this maybe you will help me out. I had my bladder removed exactly a week ago but I still have pains. 2 days ago I was bent over because I was cleaning my house when suddenly I felt a horrible pain where my gallbladder used to be and now honestly I'm a little afraid to do it again because of the really intense pain I got then. I would like to ask everyone who had their gallbladder out if something like this happened to them after 5 days post their surgery. I didn't expect it to happen after so much time because the first 2 days after the surgery I felt great, and was up doing some light house work. Anyway it seems that I was trying too hard because next 2 days I had a fever and felt really bad. Maybe it has nothing to do with the work I was doing but I doubt about this. Now is the 7th day and I still have pains so truly I wonder if I tore something inside, maybe something isn't in the way it should be? I'm thinking to go and visit a doctor about this and ask him what is all about and whether everything is alright or I'm just overthinking. Someone else can post their stories? I would like to listen to others.

Hi people, I need your help because doctors seem to be useless in helping my wife. She had her gallbladder removed exactly 15 months and the recovery seemed pretty good initially. She returned to her work within one month and her general health condition was improving constantly. We thought that everything is already in the past and we would never return to this problem. However, we were wrong. Lately, her pains returned and they are improving again more and more but especially after her work. Of course we went to the doctor and after a recent scan they said that she has nothing wrong. The only thing that doctor recommended is to take ibuprofen. The pains are intensifying and ibuprofen won’t work. Is here someone who can help or ever had such long running symptoms from gallbladder removal?
