Having Troubles During Night Due To Acid Reflux

I am suffering from acid reflux and this is a real nightmare for me! I can't sleep normally during the night because of it and it is messing with my sleeping time and quality and I'm almost always tired because of this! I can say that it's messing with my entire life because I'm not having the life I used to have once. I'm very frustrated so I would appreciate anyone who can help me with some useful information about how I can stop it? I have tried several methods but none of them worked. I don't know why but lately it is getting worse even though I'm doing everything I know to stop it. So I was taking several types of medications to stop the acid reflux and they seemed to help me just for a little period of time and that's all. They have never helped me to get over it completely or at least for a whole day. The other thing I have done that was supposed to help me dealing with it was changing approximately my entire diet. Nowadays I'm eating much much more vegetables and fruits and much much less carbs, fat and meat that I used to eat. Now I'm trying not to eat anything after my dinner, but I'm trying to have my dinner not later than 5 pm or maximum 6 pm. Even so I still live in the same nightmare and how I said it's only getting worse. I read on the internet that a cup of green tea should help with my problem and before going to bed I have one cup with nothing and that's all but anyway I'm waking up during the night with a sensation of severe burning in my throat, so bad that I can even feel the acid in my throat. Oh yes, and I always need to burp when I have it. I'm terrible tired and frustrated so I need your help! I'm begging for a quick reply whoever knows something that might help me.

Hi verr, did you found out the treatment for your problem? I might be able to help you and I really hope I will because I have had acid reflux problem for few years now and I know how bad it sucks having it. Each time I got it I had to drink a lot of pills just to get rid of it for a limited time. Later I thought that this is no good and I shall change something lest I'm going to suffer from it all my life. This moment came when I had a severe throat infection and fatigue due to the acid reflux, my method of treatment wasn't near as good as it should be. I have started to search information, every day I was reading and analyzing everything I found so I got a conclusion: I shall start changing the way I eat and my lifestyle. I have read that my daily activities, lifestyle and diet are having a great effect on my stomach and my neural system, I wasn't careful but later I realized that they were very important because these are two main components for a healthy body. What I have done: went to my doctor (again) and told him everything I got. He said that I shall take a proton pump inhibitor. In the same time I was more careful about my life style, I didn't have heavy meals and eat frequent small meals as well as staying away from too much coffee (I stopped drinking coffee at all), tea and I gave up on smoking (most difficult part, I still have a smoke from time to time but not a pack a day how I used to smoke). I also avoid drinking (now I rarely drink). That's how I got rid of the acid reflux and I hope that it is going to help you too, I guess it depends on how severe is your problem. Oh yes, and I don't really know if this helped but I was trying not to lay down for least 2 hours after food (doctor told me that I shall do so).

Lately I'm getting very scared! Now I'm afraid going to sleep because I have experienced a couple of times that I am waking up during the night or in the morning all in panic because my throat is blocked and I'm left unable to breathe. I have to focus on a couple (5 or even more) of hard and forced coughs to start breathing back again. I'm very scared because someday if I won't be able to clear my air way by coughing I will end up choking to death and that's it! This isn't all fun and games, I am very scared and each time before I go to bed I am thinking about it. Sometimes I can even think what if this is my last day? What if I won't see the sun tomorrow? If I'm gonna die in my sleep? Is here someone who have some knowledge or at least some experience with my condition and can advise me something? Maybe some of you have some hints for me about what can I do? BTW, I don't think that this is a coincidence but I've noticed that it mostly happens after I eat real spicy foods or orange juice and since then I don't ever drink orange juice or spicy foods. Also, it doesn't happen during the day! It happened only during the night and only after I fall asleep! There should be a reason and a way to stop it!

Hi everybody, I’m not suffering from acid reflux but I do know something because I’m studying about it (and many others) and I’m a caregiver. I would like to help you. I know that you may think that if I’m not having acid reflux then I should not say anything. If someone has a problem with that you are free not to follow my advices. Well, I know that night time acid reflux is caused when stomach contents reflux when one is in a prone position. That’s because usually, it aspires into one lungs and this is producing excess of mucus. Yes, you can neutralize the acid but even if you do this, the non erosive reflux still can provide you these unpleasant and scary symptoms. I’ve had to deal with patients who are suffering from this disease and I do know what are you experiencing and how scary it can be. There are several simple and very easy steps to follow that would keep you away from these symptoms. Many people thought that they would need to spend a lot of money in order to feel safely again but they only had to follow these steps. Indeed, for some of you they may not work. It depends on the severity of your reflux. So well, here are the pointers that would help you to reduce night time reflux.

~ It would be very good if you could lose some weight. In case you can do it then do not hesitate!

~ Smoking aggravate night time reflux. Best option would be to quit but it would be also good if you’ll smoke less.

~ You should reduce alcohol consumption since is another factor that can aggravate your situation.

~ It may seem weird to you but tight clothing also is bad for you – avoid it.

~ You should have your last meal not earlier than three hours before you’re going to sleep.

~ If you will raise the head of your bed to about 7 inches in block it can help you.

~ You need to avoid bending or any other exercise that can compress the stomach after you ate.

~ While eating, try to have smaller portions but more frequently.

If none of described above helps you then you should seek medical help immediately.

Hi. I am also having the acid reflux problem for a couple of years now and each time when I have getting it I was swallowing a lot of pills only to get rid of that thing for a time only. I have never thought that I am not curing it, I am not doing in fact anything for treating or preventing it. I have realized this only when I have had a severe throat infection as well as a severe fatigue because of this issue, because of acid reflux. I then decided that it is the time to do something about it so I started off by doing a lot of research online and after a lot of research I only realized that acid reflux isn’t anything I was thinking about it in the past but it is actually a very big problem and it is appearing because of the way I was living my life. I mean, what I am eating, how and when I am sleeping, etc. the quality of my life in general. I have understood that my daily activities are having an great impact on our stomach as well as on our neural system but these are 2 main components for a healthy body and we should be taking care of them, at least I should, this is extremely important for me and for people suffering from acid reflux. After research research research I have found out an author who wrote about acid reflux and proposed his methods on how to prevent from getting it. he helps and teaches how to have a good quality life, naturally. I have started to do whatever he said. And it did help. I am no longer addicted to pills etc. I’m very glad I’ve done the changes, and that’s why I am here. I want to suggest you all to search for methods online and to do a change, otherwise, the pills won’t cure this issue, while natural ways do work. Believe me. wish you all good luck.

Hi everyone, not sure if this is the proper topic where I should write this and if it’s not then please guide me. so, I only woke up in a total panic due to the fact that I simply was not able to breathe because my airways were blocked and I was thinking that this is the end and that I’m going to die. Honestly. In fact, I have had something similar to this once when I woke up without being able to breathe. But this time (second time) seemed to be much intense, much worse and lasting. I am afraid of expecting what would be the 3rd time. I really have a fear that if this is going to happen again I’m going to die. Even if I’m not, I still don’t want to wake up like that anymore. it’s scary and painful. Oh yeah, I also need to mention that I find it very hard to digest white flour (like breads and other foods). I wanted to ask you people if this could be an acid reflux issue or this is something else?? If it’s so, then you think that I need to see a specialist? Do you people have similar symptoms as I do?
