I have ear pain and swollen lymphnode

Hey, I have a problem and I would be happy if someone could help me in treating it. I am suffering from a swollen lymph node right under my jaw (on my neck), only the right side. I think that the earache I am suffering from very similar to an ear infection pain is related to my lymph node and in addition, I am having throat pains but also only on my right side. This pain is very similar to a burning sensation type of feeling that is constantly appearing and disappearing (I haven’t yet noticed what is triggering it now). However, I have a suspicious about what triggered my whole problem: smoking. That’s because everything started a few months ago when I still was a smoker. I was feeling these symptoms (in lighter form of their effectiveness) only the time when I was smoking. After a couple of weeks, when I finally understood that smoking is triggering these problems I stopped to smoke and since then I have visited 4 different doctors (family doctors and internal medicine doctors) but, unfortunately, none of them could tell me what is wrong with me, what smoking has to do with this and how to fix it. in general it feels like my entire right side is working wrong. That’s because I can also feel my neck stiff sometimes (yeah, only the right side) and I am also getting headaches and also only on my right side. I surely know what I am talking about and I can feel that my left side is completely fine. But the ear pain, and my through pain are killing me. I would really want to make them stop. Doctors seem to be useless in helping me dealing with this problem. so, my question to you: is there anybody else who has ever suffered from this? and if yes, how did you treat it? what is this?? I am seriously worried and some help would be nice!

hey, I saw your post and I realized that I have had the exact same symptoms as you have but the only difference is that I am not an active smoker. For me, the pains started to appear when I was eating. Whenever I was swallowing something it would trigger me extremely bad pains. In fact, I could feel these pains all the time but they were intensifying a lot when I was eating so I understood that something is wrong. I went to a doctor after a couple of days and he looked at my throat. He said that he was seeing an ulceration that was located near my right tonsil, and that ulceration was responsible for all those pains. The symptoms were the same as yours, extreme bad earache pains only in my right ear and only my right lymph node was swollen very much. He said that finding ulcerations is actually very hard because they are usually located anywhere behind your tonsils so many doctors doesn’t see them and that is the reason they cannot diagnose you. After that he said that I should take “magic mouthwash” and he said that usually it helps. For me, it helped. I was gargling a teaspoon if this pasty liquid (its color is pink) and then I was spitting it. the taste is not horrible but it is not pleasant at all. It is recommended not to spit all of it out because it should be kept a little on the back of the throat in order to keep it being effective. However, it is hard not doing it. it took a while until it finally went away but in the end I was treated. Initially, I was still having earache, extreme pain and the swollen lymph node (the right one) but that was only after I was swallowing and the pains decreased gradually. As I see, the pains could be triggered by smoking too so it might help you as well. At least I hope so. Good luck.

I am no doctor so remember that what I am going to tell you is not a diagnose, this is just some information that you might check yourself. How you have described your symptoms it seemed pretty close to me to what I have so, therefore I have two possibilities for you. One thing that might be is that you’re having a cracked tooth on the side that disturbs you. Sometimes you don’t even know that you’re having a cracked tooth but, you actually have it. try to remember if you have ever had some trauma on the sore side that disturbs you and if it have been possible to cause a cracked tooth? Or maybe, you had some root canals done. You should ask your dentist to check if you’re having a cracked tooth or not and to ask an endodontist for the radiolucencies by the roots. Well, if you are sure that you have neither of them then there’s another thing that might be and it is easier to check it. it could be something with your tonsil. For me it was the tonsil as I was getting tonsil cheese on the side that was sore and disturbed me (earache, pain in check and around the teeth etc.) + I was having stiff neck. I said that it is easier to check it because you can ask someone simply to flashlight down your throat and he or she should be able to see if you have something on that side. As I said, something cheesy looking. You can also ask your doctor to do it and also check for tonsillitis. Or, if that side is red, it could be strep throat. However, as I said, these are only some possibilities while there could be something totally different from what I have told you. There is another possibility but I really doubt about it because of your swollen lymph node. It is clenching your teeth and this can cause a stiff neck but I am clueless if this can cause an earache so… I have had both the cracked tooth root and the tonsil cheese. My dentist also said that I have clenching of the teeth so this is the cause but I still don’t know. You better go and check all these possibilities and if you still won’t find the answer then visit as many doctors as you can because at least one of them MUST know the answer!
