Hi, I don’t where to post this, at first I thought about posting it to cancers forum however I decided to put it here hoping I’m going to get an answer sooner. About a year ago, in may or july I have noticed a some tender spot on the right side of my neck. Nothing serious I thought that time but I decided to give it a try and ask a doctor what is this. Went to my family doctor who looked at it and told me that my neck is fine. Well, I forgot about it even though I felt it every other day. Annually I’m having regular pcp check up who also looked at my neck and told me that is fine. “Better for me” I thought. Went to a doctor about 2 months ago due to other health issue (which now is treated) and I put a finger on this tender spot on my neck. Again the 3rd doctor who said it is ok. About last month I already began to feel a lump there and I went back to my pcp to show him and to ask one more time if he is 100% sure that I don’t have anything health threatening. But he again said that it is nothing.

This time I decided I need to make some research about it because surely something isn’t right. Went to totally another doctor from a private (expensive) clinic. The doctor there said that he could feel like I’m having swollen lymph nodes and my right side of my neck where I have the spot is looking different from the left side. I went to my pcp telling him that he was wrong about it and I do have something so I asked him to do something about it and least few tests. Made an ultrasound to check my thyroid gland and the doctor from another clinic was right after all. Ultrasound came back with multiple swollen nodes on the right side and the largest node measuring 2.2 cm. Then I was checked for blood tests, chest x-ray and searched the rest of my body to see if I have other swellings. Everything was fine. In few days I’m going to do other tests but I’m very and very scared that I might have cancers, that’s why I said at first that I thought about posting this at cancers forum. I don’t know yet what I have but I’m very upset on the doctors. It is mind blowing that THREE different doctors could not notice that I do have something wrong with my neck. I just wanted to ask if there are other people who had something like this and what is the end of your story? I’m in serious health risk? I mean, do I have cancers?

Hello, Wass. Everything OK? I know that the causes of these swollen cervical lymph nodes you're having are varied, and may be inflammatory, neoplastic, or degenerative. There are various common infections in the head and neck region like common cold, strep throat, gingivitis, ear infections, flu, infectious mononucleosis, upper respiratory tract infection, etc. can cause enlarged lymph nodes in the neck so you could recall what caused your neck to enlarge and this might save a doctor's and your time. I truly hope that you're not going to panic after reading this but I read somewhere and I need to let you know that various cancers can result in swollen lymph nodes in the neck so I greatly recommend you to visit a specific doctor for this and don't ignore it as you did for a whole year. I understand that it seems a simple enlargement which doesn't cause big troubles but be careful because it can lead to other big troubles. As I said, I recommend you to immediately go and visit a doctor about it if he can't help you get another one. 100 doctors if needed should see your neck. Please don't leave it for your own good. Anyway, usually the swollen lymph nodes in neck are caused by infections and I hope that this is in your case too. What makes me concerned is that you haven't mentioned any pains associated to these lymph nodes, I want to say that usually enlarged lymph nodes due to infections are generally painful so.. I don't know... What I do know is that usually, it is given antibiotics for it and also there is a surgical drainage. A doctor may know the best. Get checked by professionals immediately! Good luck and hope you're going to be ok. Take care.

Hey bro, I know how do you feel because I have had the same thing! The strange thing is that I have visited three different doctors too and none of them could understand what is going on with me! One of them said that it is due to allergy but obviously it wasn’t and the other two said it is nothing, they said that it’s normal and I shouldn’t be worried. I have had this painless swollen lymph node for over two years or I don’t really know. I noticed it in july two years ago but I’m not really sure for how much time they are there so I think it’s more than two years already. I had no pain due to it and no other symptom at all, in my opinion this is the reason why three different doctors could not diagnose me with anything and said that everything is fine, I mean that no pain – no problem and no diagnose but I felt that something is wrong! I finally was told that I need to see a pathologist because he’s the only one who can recognize an issue in the swellings. I have visited him and he finally diagnosed me and said I need to have a surgery in order to get rid of it. Obviously I agreed and I had it removed. Now I’m in my healing process. I don’t know how much time it needs but I hope it’s going to be a quick one. You can write an update letting us know how you’re feeling now. Hope you’ll get better!
