pain tooth

I've done my white filling a week ago (on my upper molar) and I'm still feeling pain whenever I drink or eat something, doesn't matter if cold or hot. I feel like that tooth is shooting with ache in my brain. I will see my doctor tomorrow, but I don't think he will do something useful - I called him today but he said that sometimes it can take couple of weeks for the filling to suit up and to escape the pain. he said that maybe we will make a xray to check that tooth if the filling it's not too high. should I visint another doctor? because I'm already going crazy with this tooth, but another couple of weeks I don't know how I will resist. does anyone know what I'm talking about ? maybe some went thru this kind of situation?

Hello there,

I'm sorry to upset you but there is nothing you could do. All you have to do is to be patient. It's very common for a tooth to be sensitive after filling, your neveres have to get used to the new tooth. If your detinst gave you some meds then take them and be calm because there is literarly nothing you can do, and no one can. It's highly unlikely that another dentist could change something.

Good luck with that ;)

Hi, I'm very thankful to see your post! I've got myself a tooth filling in my lower wisdom tooth on my left side for more than a week ago and I still have pains and it's aching. I've had very painful novicane injection and it took about 3 hours to wear off. During the filling the doctor really drilled into me and it was deeper than I expected. The next day after it I was full in pain, I thought it's normal as it's only the next day. The day after it I went to my doctor to ask him what is going on and he said that it's something normal. Now it's more than a week and I start freaking out. I don't want to get back to my doctor again for nothing. Anyway I see that I'm not the only one and I have nothing to do about it just to be patient and wait. I really hope that everything went normal and this pain is going to pass without any more medical care. Now I'm going to stay near my pain killers for another week and see what happen hoping that it's going to change something. Thank you again for your post, it helps me to relax knowing that I'm not alone.

well people i am sorry for what you went thru. i literally can feel your pain. the exact same thing happened to me when i got 2 fillings. i've done them 4 months ago and I am still in pain after being in to have a bite adjustment done by two different dentists.

when the first doc was doing his "job" he was hitting a nerve real bad and he had already given me 3 shots, in my opinion this is unacceptable! after the operation i began grinding my teeth at night due to the high fillings and has caused horrible aching pain in my jaw during the whole day after. i constantly took pain killers every about 9 hours, when i forgot to take them i literally suffered in pains, i almost cried!

when i understood that something isn't right i decided to visit another doc and after that i was in to have it adjusted so i am finally feeling some relief. i was so right about seeing another doc and thank god that i thought about that. now i regret really bad letting the first doc doing the fillings. he was so incapable... he couldn't say for sure if he was even going to fill them, if i only knew that time what is going to happen next... if i only knew that i'm going to have 4 months full of pains 24/7. i am thankful to the second doc but i don't really know what to do with the first one, i'm so freaking angry at him!

i just wanted to let you know that you're not alone with this problem and that you should be careful who's going to do your filling. it depends very much on how the fillings was done

Now I see that it is common to have pains after a filling but I wonder how much time it is going to take for my filling until the pain is going to go away. I've had a deep cavity filled for about a week and a half now and taking tylenol type of stuff for my tooth pain to deal with and to be honest is not that helpful. Since then I have heard and read different things upon this, I know that it could take a couple of weeks or a month and even now up to six months so I'm very afraid that I'm going to have the 3rd option because almost 2 weeks passed but the pain is still there and very persistent. However I am very glad that I have no sharp pains and the pain is almost non existent sometimes, but mostly I have some sort of a dull pain. Since then I have noticed that my tooth is very sensitive to cold or hot drinks and food so I always have to wait until my food or drink is going to chill or to get hotter. I also miss my coffee but I know I should not have one at least few months and to be honest this is not a easy thing for me (I used to be a coffee lover). When the pain comes I cannot concentrate at other things and I find it difficult to sleep at night. I hope that this condition is going to disappear. Anyway, those who posted a while ago, how do you feel know? Is your pain eased?
