What is Diovan HCT (valsartan)?

The combination of valsartan and hydrochlorothiazide may increase the neurotoxicity of salicylates, cardiac glycosides, cardiotoxic and neurotoxic effect of lithium preparations, muscle relaxants.
Diovan HCT reduces the excretion of quinidine, reduces the effect of oral hypoglycemic drugs, norepinephrine, epinephrine. It reduces the excretion of cytotoxic drugs (cyclophosphamide, methotrexate) and leads to an increase of myelosuppressive action.
Hydrochlorothiazide may increase the level of drugs containing lithium or potassium.
Anticholinergic drugs increase the bioavailability of hydrochlorothiazide.
The drug increases the risk of side effects of cytostatics and amantadine.
