(Updated: November 30, -1)
I was suffering from severe bloody diarrhea and even though it seemed scary to me, for one reason or another I have never visited a doctor even though it lasted like that for a couple of months until this symptom went away without any visits to my doctor. Everything seemed fine as soon as they went away but that only lasted 2 years and then this symptom came back with vengeance to be even worse than how it was previously. This time I couldn’t leave it like that and I went to my doctor to find out what’s wrong. I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis almost instantly. I am lucky that my doctor is a very good one and he really knows his job. He has prescribed asacol and said to take 6 pills of it in a day. This is a miracle drug for me as it has done real miracles for me. in less than 2 weeks I was having absolutely normal bowel movements back again and I didn’t had any pains anymore. however, I was told that I still need to continue taking this drug but I slowly started to decrease the dose (my doctor told me to do it) and today I am taking only 2 pills per day of 800 mg of asacol. I am very happy that I have been prescribed this drug. My life has greatly changed, into better and I have a normal life back again. I do have side effects, in fact, only one of them: it is a little bit of dizziness whenever I am having some intense stress moments. I have also had some flares but they were very infrequent and very mild. Other than this I love this medicine. Oh yeah, sometimes I do miss the dosage occasionally, however, I have never noticed this thing to affect me and I’m happy about it. I’m not sure what would happen if I would skip my next dose too but as long as I take the next scheduled dose I’m fine. I’m taking the drug for one year now and it is the best thing for ulcerative colitis, I would definitely recommend you to give it a try if you’re suffering from this too.
