I’m having diabetes type 1, I have been diagnosed more than 14 years ago and since then I have had high cholesterol. Since then I am on a very restricted diet because I said that it is better to have a diet than to use a medicine, so I am not eating any eggs or meat, however, my cholesterol is still high (it is believed that this is genetic). That’s how I agreed to use a statin even though I still didn’t wanted it. I firstly used Lipitor and my fears were proven, I have had side effects from it the worst one being a rash all over my body. I didn’t wanted to take any drugs initially but after the experiment with Lipitor I didn’t wanted to take anything even more. later, I have been told to take crestor due to the fact that about half a year ago, a stress test showed some abnormalities (but later they were all disproven). I have started to search information about crestor online, ran into user’s review and saw that a lot of people are getting muscle cramps, joint pains in the wrist and ankles as well as pains in the leg (these were the most common side effects I saw). Initial anti-statin opinion, bad experience with the first statin and bad user’s review about this drug were all telling me not to use it. everything was a no-no. but the stress test, doctor’s arguments and a lot of thinking made me give it a try. I have started with only 5 mg per day and I have also started to walk about half an hour per day a couple of days per week. 6 months passed and my latest test showed that my total cholesterol was below the normal range while all the other levels where in the normal range. Initially I have been told that maybe later, I would need to raise up my dosage to 10 mg. but after the endocrinologist saw those results he was shocked and very happy and obviously said that there is absolutely no need to raise the dosage. By the way, about the side effects that others have described: from time to time I do get some of them but it is by far not the same as other people has. I am having some little joint pains in my ankles and in my wrist and even rarer some muscle pains, but they are all tolerable! I was an anti-statin and medicines person, but now, I don’t regret that I have tried crestor.

Hi, I would like to write something about this drug because it helped me very much. I have always had big problems with my cholesterol but after that I started to administrate Crestor. since the beginning I noticed that it influenced very much my cholesterol’s levels. I took Crestor 10 mg more than 8 years. I know it’s a very long time but I don’t regret because it really helped. The only thing is that obviously I developed a kind of dependence and I started to think that it’s time to quit. During these years I have had some side effects such as joint pain and some headaches, but nothing serious. I recommend this drug to those that want to use it but be aware of dependence.

Whoever intends to take crestor you should read this review firstly! This is going to be a long one hoping that people would hear me and understand what I’m talking about. So, I was taking Crestor and everything was fine but in about one month of taking it (or even less) I have developed a really strange symptom, an odd side effect that was affecting my thighs during the night. It was always waking me up from my sleep. The side effect was a feeling like I was hit by electricity or like a million ants were crawling on me. or like I was having a strong vibrating feeling. The thing is that during the day I was completely fine and nothing disturbed me. I could even go to sleep perfectly normal. However, everything started after a couple of hours of sleep. I was waking up with that odd feeling so I was in need to massage my legs, or to hold them up in the air for as long as I could or I needed to do some leg exercises. In this way I was trying to stop this sensation and it did helped me a little bit but the relief was felt only while I was doing all that activity. As soon as I stopped, the feeling came back. So after about 2 hours of massaging myself, walking around and keeping my legs in the air I was falling asleep only due to extreme exhaustion. I suffered from this nightmare for a couple nights until I decided that this should be a side effect from the drug so I discontinued to take it without telling it to my doctor. I waited for 3 days without taking the drug and I didn’t noticed any changes, this sensation during the night was still there. then I decided to consult my doctor about it. I told him about what I am thinking but he replied that there’s no way that this could be a side effect from the crestor so he said that I should take it continuously, as for my side effect he suggested to visit a sleep specialist because this could be a restless leg syndrome. Well, restarted to take this drug again and over time I noticed that this effect is progressing. At first, when it just begun I was sleeping for about 5 hours and only then I was woke up by this sensation so I was massaging, turning walking etc for 2 hours. After that I was only sleeping 4 hours and the same story. After that 3 hours and repeat and then 2 hours and repeat. After a while I was sleeping no more than 4 hours per day. I was sleeping 1.5 hours or 2 and then those exercises for 2 hours and so on until the morning. In the morning I had to go to my work. I was feeling like shit after a while. Obviously I have visited a doctor, an ER and he put gave me some sleeping pills and told me that my issue can be related with my thyroid. The doc put me on several medications for RLS but they didn’t delivered me any relief. After that the doc said that I should visit a neurologist, then I visited 3 MRI’s, then an EMG and after that a thyroid panel. After a lot of RLS medications and some other nerve medications without achieving any relief my doc has finally spoke saying that this is a side effect from crestor! After that I quit crestor immediately and in less than one week I could sleep for 6 hours straight without having any problems, any strange feelings and so on. Now, I regret that I didn’t stopped to take crestor for the first time when I stopped it. I just had to wait for a couple of days more the first time. Now, here’s I want to suggest you: each time when you notice that something is wrong with you, you should ask for multiple options from different doctors. One or two are not enough as they are also humans and they can also have a misdiagnose for you. You should understand your body and the symptoms you’re experiencing. Ask multiple doctors about it and seek for a relationship between the medications you are taking, your diets, medical history and so on. You should search for information yourself, nobody is going to do it for you! I assure you about that.

This medicine is a really good one in bringing your total cholesterol down. My cholesterol lowered from 245 to 170 and it seemed to be an effective drug. I was on it for about one year and a half and I could not stretch anymore without pulling a muscle. Well, I’ve visited my doctor again so he said that my dosage should be shrank. I was taking only half a 5 mg tablet but this dosage didn’t worked for me so my cholesterol elevated again to 220. I am also having gastro esophageal reflux disease (AKA GERD) and not so long ago I got a bad GERD pain in my chest so I needed to do something about it. I took an antacid during my food and after I ate. I discontinued taking Crestor at all because the dosage was already ineffective so my pains and my confusion disappeared instantly. I was feeling very good back again. Currently, I am eating normal food, I am exercising, and this helps me to lower the numbers of LDL and to raise the numbers of HDL. When I checked my numbers – my total was 236 with my LDL in a admissible range and my HDL high. Now, my doc is keeping me on fibrates. I hope that I would get good results now but as for Crestor, it is doing its job but I have side effects.

Only few months ago I have been told that I’m having high cholesterol. I’ve heard that crestor is the most known medicine for lowering high cholesterol and I have also heard that it is the best. My doctor also recommended it. He put me on 10 mg dose of Crestor and it seemed fine for a couple of days. It really reduced my HC when I was checked but I have also developed many side effects such as: muscle pains, constipation, foggy brain and “strange” thinking. This led to a personality change, I was changed, and many of my friends told me this, my wife too. I had no enthusiasm. There were too much side effects not to notice so I’ve asked my dr to change the medication. He said that Lipitor could work. Never heard of it before but it really works. Lipitor is also reducing my HC and I have nearly no side effects and if there are some they are not worth to mention. I’m now for a little more than 3 months on Lipitor and it is good. I guess Crestor is not for everybody. I would have continued taking it if I would not have so many side effects, but… unfortunately.. I had. If there is somebody else who is also having negative effects with this drug then you can also try Lipitor. My best wishes.

Yes, this medication is ease to use, it is effective for high cholesterol and it seems a good drug when you don’t know the side effects. As I was thinking. It lowered my high cholesterol but I was feeling strange. I never thought that it may be related to crestor. Later I found out that it is. I was taking only a small dose of this medicine but it had a really powerful negative effect on me such as panic attack and depression. I was taking only 5 mg of crestor and the doc said that maybe later I will take more because now I just start the treatment. Thanks god I never took even more because it could end really bad. I took this medication for few months when the negative thoughts started to invade my mind that there was nothing I can do about it. Whatever I was doing, thinking or speaking I was always having fears, concerns, worries and simply bad thoughts. I could not understand what’s going on, why I am acting like that and why I am thinking that way. It was strange for me. However, I still never thought that crestor might be the reason of this. The biggest problem started after I had a conflict (not a really big one) with my daughter with whom I’m in good relationship and I always was. I suffered a debilitating panic attack and when I woke up the next morning I was AFRAID of my OWN daughter. I started to have thoughts like changing locks of our house and never let her in. I started to think that she will come into my room and she’ll kill me. After some time being alone with my sick brain I developed suicidal thoughts because I didn’t want to see my daughter because I was afraid of her. As you can see I was completely out of my mind. Husband noticed that something is wrong with me, called our family doctor who said that I should stop taking this drug. Within 3 days after I stopped taking it I was feeling fine back again, my thoughts were normal and my mind returned to the previous stage of a loving mother. I would choose the severity of side effects this medicine leads 10 out of 10 since I could end up killing myself. Be aware.

Hey, I am suffering from type 1 diabetes and I have had high cholesterol for about 10 years when I was diagnosed. That is why, now I am on a restricted diet, when I didn’t followed it my cholesterol was getting very high. I do not eat eggs or meat (any one with high cholesterol knows it) and many more. Few years ago I took Lipitor for my condition but I had severe side effects such as pretty bad rash and many more from it and that’s why I tried not to take any other statins. However, 9 months ago I finally agreed to take Crestor because my stress test showed some unpleasant abnormalities and I was left with no other option. So, doctor prescribed me 5 mg of Crestor and said that we will start with this dosage but later we possibly will get it higher. In the same day I have started to walk about half an hour a day, in every day so I guess this can be one of the reasons too why my results were normal each time when I was monitored by the doctors. Few days ago (now it’s 9 months later) and my total cholesterol levels is below normal range and all the other levels were exactly in the good range. My doctors were very pleased with all my results and added that there’s absolutely no reason to get higher to 10 mg of this Crestor. Side effects are no big problems: I do get sometimes some little joint pain in my ankles and in my wrist and sometimes even rarer muscle pains. Other than that everything is OK and nothing else disturbs me. Honestly, I didn’t expected such good results, I thought that this is another crappy medicine for simple people to spend their money but it seems that I was wrong.

When I was diagnosed with high cholesterol levels doctor prescribed me a lot of other medication in order to help me with it. Many years passed but none a single medication worked for my high cholesterol levels. I don’t really know the reason but all they were ineffective. I took Zocor, Gemfibrozil and many others. Well, for about 2 weeks ago my doctor prescribed me Crestor. He said that this one should help me because it’s one of the best drugs known for high cholesterol levels. Took 20 mg in these 2 weeks and I am experiencing really bad side effects such as bad nausea, light headed and very bad leg muscle pains. I’m feeling horrible, I cannot walk few miles because I have severe pains in my legs so I have to sit down for a while. I also have pains in my shoulders, feet and buttocks. Moreover, I had back pains for a really long time but the pains were mild. Now, the pains were intensified because of the Crestor. Also, I’m taking Viagra for a really long time and it was very effective on me each time I took it. Now, after I took Crestor I’ve noticed that Viagra is no more effective. Crestor is literally making me an impotent. I don’t understand what why is that, Viagra has always worked for me before, now it’s completely useless. If I would have the chance to rethink to start the treatment, I would never do it again. Doctor warned me that I could have muscle pains when taking Crestor but I should have asked more about this medication and its effects. My numbers of cholesterol levels weren’t very high so it wasn’t extremely important to start the treatment. In my case, the benefits didn’t outweigh the side effects and now I regret taking it. I just hope that after I’m gonna stop to take this medication the side effects will go away. I recommend doing a lot of research about this medication and let know your doctor your medication history. If possible, avoid taking it.

Troubles with high cholesterol were subdued only with the help of this medication. I was prescribed crestor drug 10 mg about 4 months ago. Cholesterol level dropped almost immediately after I took it and in less than 4 months my cholesterol went down from 230 to 140. Very satisfying results! I’ve began to have some little muscle spasms and pains but for no known reason they stopped. Other than that no side effects were noticed. Now I’m feeling just fine and I can sincerely recommend it. It really seems that it works for certain people but for others don’t, however, I guess it’s worth a try. Good luck

I suffer from high cholesterol for years and the doc put me on this drug few months ago. I cannot say that it is an ineffective drug – it has a great effect: it slightly increased my HDL while it lowered my LDL. Everything was fine until I took it for about a month. I started developing joint, hips and muscles pains that doctor could not explain. I also started to have shortness of breath occasionally and it was painful even to walk normally. The doctor said it could not be Crestor responsible for all these side effects despite the fact that I had none of them before I first took the drug and advised me to continue to take it. Took it for another week. It was the most painful and worst week of my life. Doc started to look for answers but said that I should take it further. I could not so I took myself off it. In about a week I was feeling normal back again. This is my first review but I could not keep this as a secret so it’s my duty as a patient to let others know about it. Please be careful because this can be a dangerous drug even if it’s taken exactly how your doctor prescribed, as I did. I believe that certain medications work for certain people, Crestor is not my kind.
