My father is also diagnosed with Wet AMD and his situation is progressively worsening. He is now 69 years old and after he has lost his right eye, he received three injections of Lucentis every month into his left eye. As soon as he started to take this drug there really showed up some signs of improvement but, unfortunately they didn’t lasted at all so soon after that, any signs of improvement completely stopped. After half a year, a couple of days ago he went back to have his 4th injection with Lucentis but there’s still the same situation so far – no signs of improvement. So much time passed but this medication seem to be completely useless so now my father is almost completely blind. His blindness is progressing while he is spending a lot of money for stopping this progression. What’s the reason of those spent money and so much time spent? We’re very unhappy and disappointed even though we are really hoping for the best to happen. Even so, my father is getting very depressed because of his progressively losing sight. It is hard now for us to endure this situation and to try to encourage him. What we are sure about, from our own experience, is that there are almost no chances of the injections with Lucentis to work successfully if the diagnose is put at a late stage. Unfortunately… Doctors said that there would have been a lot of more chances to save my father’s sight if he would have been diagnosed earlier… If other users knows something that can save us and can share the information with us that would be really awesome!

Lucentis has definitely helped me to prevent the progression of my AMD I was suffering but the problem is that the most recent injection I took have caused to suffer from severe and quite frequent headache and weird sensations of confusion. This is the reason why, unfortunately, I will have to discontinue using it further, probably. I’m still not sure because it helped me so much but now I have these side effects. I took it for more than half a year. About 8 months and only now I’ve started to notice these side effects. Anyway, I have read lately the list of relevant side effects and I guess I shouldn’t be so surprised that I have suffered some of these side effects. Maybe others will never start to have side effects from it but unfortunately I’m among those people who develop side effects. I guess that now I should search for another medication that can help me at least as good as this one.

I’m a 67 years old woman and I don’t usually take drugs. For one reason or another I don’t trust them. A year ago I was diagnosed with wet macular. Doctors recommended me to take this Lucentis but I didn’t want. I don’t like injections, I don’t like drugs and I don’t like anything what doctors are prescribing us because I know that drugs can help us with a problem but they would provide us with another one. I’m a very skeptic person. Well, months later and after long discussion with my family, doctors and so on I agreed to be given this drug especially because I’ve noticed that my situation was getting worse. So, I was given this Lucentis drug in my eye for my ARMD wet type and as a big surprise for me it worked. I had 3 injections in 3 months and my situations has improved very much! Thanks to this drug my central vision has improved and now I can work on my computer and I can drive again my car. I still don’t have 20/20 but the doctors said that they have big hopes about this and initially I didn’t believed them but now I’ve started to trust. Sincerely I don’t enjoy at all the procedure but it is definitely worth it so I can at least maintain my good eyesight I now have. I have been told very well about all the side effects the drug can provide but it seems I don’t have to worry about them because I have only had one bleed and I feel a little bit restless the next day after the injection. Other than that I didn’t noticed anything so I am happy. I thought that I will never say this but I CAN recommend this drug. Lucentis seem to be an unusual good and helpful drug!

Recently, I just had my 5 th injection so far. Initially this doctor thought that after the 4 th injection my problem would be corrected. It didn’t. Anyway, I have noticed some improvement in my vision so far and I can say that I’m thankful to what I have. My doctor is not very pleased with results, he said that it could be better, however it’s still good that I have some improvements, especially looking at my family medical condition: both my parents are now blind, my father got completely blind 15 years ago and my mother 8 years ago. After the 5 th injection I just had my doctor said that there’s a chance that I have to have these injections for the rest of my life and sincerely this is far not the best news I’ve got since the injections are really and really expensive. My insurance won’t pay for them until the end of my days and I am really concerned how I’m gonna pay for the remaining injections. Overall: effectiveness 3 out of 5 stars, ease of use 4 out of 5 stars and satisfaction 2 out of 5 stars. By the way, no side effects so far.

I was diagnosed with ARMD wet type in my right eye. My situation was very bad, doctor said there’s few chances left for me. I’m only 44 years old and everything seemed fine few weeks before I got diagnosed. Half a year of treatment with Avastin but could not see any improvement (neither my doctor) so we decided to give a try Lucentis, otherwise blindness will follow me. A little less than 3 years, almost every month treated with Lucentis and now my sight is almost 20/20. Doctor now says it is a very good result especially had bad I was. Very thankful to the developers of the drug that saved my sight! Side effects were not a problem since they were minor: a little bit of discomfort during and few minutes after the injection and occasionally my eye was tearing. Everything was just perfect besides that! IMO injections are difficult but well worth it! Few more months and we are going to stop the treatment and see how I’m going to be. Hope I’m going to keep at least the results I have today.
