Pharmacological action

Rhinocort (budesonide) is a hormonal drug with anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic effect. Rhinocort spray is used to treat and prevent vasomotor rhinitis (inflammation of the mucous membrane of the nasal cavity), seasonal and allergic rhinitis. It is also sometimes used to prevent the growth of nasal polyps after polypectomy (surgical removal of polyps).

Budesonide is a synthetic analogue of cortisol produced by the adrenal cortex, which is used to regulate the metabolism of carbohydrates and minerals in the body. Budesonide prevents the symptoms of inflammation of mucous membranes in the respiratory tract.

Budesonide is absorbed from the nasal cavity in very small amounts (only a fifth of the substance penetrates into systemic circulation).

Rhinocort contraindications

The drug is not used in case of hypersensitivity to budesonide.

Rhinocort nasal spray is not used in case of bacterial, fungal, viral infections or tuberculosis of the respiratory system.
