I have had some side effects from this drug just at the beginning. I’m wondering if it’s so because I have recently changed the drug. From the very beginning I felt myself very weak and I have experienced some pain. Actually I feel like this drug helps me. Beside these effects and this pain I really believe that my situation after some months will be better. I even started to get used with this pain because the problem that this pain is causing to me is nothing in comprising with all the problems that caused to me the cancer at the beginning. I hope that soon I’ll see the lifecycle of my cancer ending and I’ll feel myself much better. Greetings

So far, Alimta seems to be a good working drug. I have had 3 chemo treatments so far. I am experiencing some side effects from it but they can be combated with the help of other medications. So, for the nausea I have my doc gave me Zofran and it helps me a lot as well as I am eating sliced quarter lemon sometimes. For the diarrhea that I am having from time to time I am having Immodium and it works very well. I guess that my worst side effect from the Alimta is constipation, however, I am now taking (my doc prescribed) Miralax two times per week and it also helps. After each chemo I am feeling tired, very weak and fatigued but I guess this is normal. Anyway, now, my doctor gives me fluids of saline chloride and it works perfectly for my body. I am feeling great for about 4 to 10 days after I am having the fluids. I am able to feel that I am living again. In the past I was taking Alimta along with Carboplatin but my doctor said that this Carboplatin is too toxic my body so he stopped giving it to me. I am now taking only Alimta and I am OK with that. Besides all that I am also taking Folic Acid, B12 and Nuproneia because I have low count on my white blood cell. Here’s what I recommend you: take supplements of multivitamins because they really help you to feel better especially now. With the help of all these medications, supplements and vitamins I am taking I am having more good days that bad days so I am thankful for that. I wish you all good luck and I hope that you’ll all be fine. I will pray for you and god bless you all.

My mother is 79 years old and was diagnosed with non small cell lung cancer. Immediately doctor started to give her infusions with alimta. She has received a total of 6 infusions, one infusion per month. After her last scan docs said that the cancer has now shrank pretty well and that there are no signs of new cancers. I have read few other’s people reviews and I was very afraid that some of those severe side effects might start to disturb her too. However, everything was start so I guess we’re lucky. Of course she has had some side effects but there wasn’t anything serious. The most severe side effect she has ever had was feeling of fatigue. The second one was water retention. Other than these two nothing serious happened. Moreover, the docs helped with this too as those side effects were reduced by some changes in the diuretic meds. hope she’ll be fine…

My husband just had his second round of chemo and now he takes this drug Alimta IV with carboplatin IV. Now it’s too soon to say something about effectiveness and about side effects but it seems to go well. He already had something like this 4 years ago and then he was given Avastin and carboplatin IV along with pill form of tarceva every day. He was having nausea, hair loss and his appetite was almost completely gone. He barely ate something then. Now he seems to have better results since he has normal appetite, doesn’t get nauseous and he doesn’t experience hair loss now. Anyhow, I cannot say almost anything about it because it’s too early. We have to do two more treatments (as doctors said) but we’ll see if we’ll have both of them or only one, or maybe even more. We still don’t know how it goes. After he will have an X-Ray next month we will be ready for his 3rd treatment and I really hope that it would pass normally. I do trust doctors and I do trust these modern medicines. I also hope that there are miracles and this horrible disease (cancer) will go into remission soon (or at least later). Btw he complained that he’s feeling weakness but we don’t know if this drug is responsible for this. It could be. So I just wanted to warn you to take care. I really really hope this drug is worth the pains, weakness, money, time and everything else. Good luck everyone.

My husband takes this drug! Yesterday he had his 8th monthly treatment as a part of his monthly maintenance plan and so far it works very well! We’re very pleased with its effects! He was diagnosed with cancer, which are tumors around his lymph nodes of his bronchial tubes. This drug saved him! Lately he have done 2 pet scans and the results were just amazing! Absolutely NO signs of cancer! This is just great! His appetite started to come back after his 2nd treatment and now he’s eating normally. We’re doing well and I’m very thankful to developers of this drug! He doesn’t complain about any side effects, maybe only a little nausea but other than that everything is alright! God bless the scientists who made this drug real! Totally recommend Alimta IV.
