i am diagnosed with MS since 2000 and since then I am taking Betaseron. My diagnose was put at the age of 45 but it is much more mild compared to the MS my older brother is suffering with. He is in a very bad condition, as bad as he needs assistance to walk and it seems that medications doesn’t work for him. It is 15 years now since I’m on the medication and the side effects are tolerable for me. initially I have had some flu like symptoms but I’ve passed through that very well, I have discovered that I can avoid getting those symptoms by the help of Tylenol or any other pain relief product that has to be in my body. Currently I am experiencing only one side effect: I have some injection site reactions that includes redness and soreness. I haven’t discovered anything beneficial to help me with this side effect, moreover, doctor said that over time, this medication caused me to suffer from muscle atrophy in the area where I had the injection (my buttocks and my arms). However, this is not bad and the positive effects are worth the bad effects. In all these 15 years I have suffered from only 3 relapses and doctors told me that it has slowed the improvement of the MS and it has greatly lessened the severity of relapses I have had. The last relapse was few years ago and that’s why I am thankful for. All in all, I would recommend this medication to everyone who is suffering from relapsing remitting multiple sclerosis. By the way, doctor told me that the side effects could be even milder, unfortunately they are not.
